Overview:
This position will serve a 300 hour AmeriCorps service term over the summer with Soft Landing's youth program and earn a $1,492 education award upon completion of service. AmeriCorps Team Members will have a flexible schedule within programming to fit around other commitments, serving 10-15 hours per week on average. The AmeriCorps summer member will work together with SLM staff and AmeriCorps members to provide free and accessible educational and recreational activities for refugee youth throughout the summer. Members plan and organize activities, recruit and work with volunteers, provide transportation and logistical support, and interact with and mentor refugee youth. Past activities have included mountain biking, college tours, whitewater rafting, boys group, Girls Leadership Council, crafting club, book club, English classes, and overnight trips to Yellowstone and Seeley Lake.

Montana Campus Compact AmeriCorps
Campus/Community-based AmeriCorps Team members with Montana Campus Compact are part of the MTCC AmeriCorps team of college students. This team will serve at least 25 refugee and immigrant students over the summer to support in bridging the summer learning gap and providing an environment for academic and social skill-building for refugee youth and young adults. An MTCC AmeriCorps Team Member will commit to complete a minimum of 300 hours over the summer. Successful candidates will be passionate about creating equitable opportunities and addressing barriers for all youth to be successful in school and build social and emotional skills.
