    Summary

    The Director of Nursing (DON) upholds the LSS mission of "Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest" by providing clinical leadership and oversight of resident care and services.

    Job Responsibilities

    1. Oversees the operation of nursing care and services and the staff delivering them, while promoting the highest standard of excellence in client care

    2. Sets objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department

    3. Ensures regulatory compliance and resolves deficiencies when needed

    4. Ensures appropriate reporting to outside agencies, including timely submission of OASIS data to CMS

    5. Delegates to clinical administrative staff as appropriate

    6. Ensures equipment and supplies are managed appropriately

    7. Manages relationships with vendors to assure the highest quality of services are provided

    8. Supervises, hires, on-boards/trains, and evaluates nursing staff

    9. Coordinates on-going education/in service as required or needed to nursing staff

    10. Monitors nursing productivity; staffs,daily scheduling; and assures nursing staff are appropriately assigned after hours “On Call”

    11. Conducts weekly case conference for home health clients on service

    12. Participates int the development of policies and procedures.

    13. Oversees intake and QI processes; supervises the maintenance and accuracy of patient care and medical records

    14. Partners with other team members to ensure agency meets goals including but not limited to growth, quality, and finances

    15. Participates in Admin on call rotation and provides direct patient care when necessary

    16. Participates in the development and monitoring of QAPI and infection control program, Ensures follow up on any required action plans

    17. Maintains proficiency with the agency's EHR

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
    Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with 2 years management experience
    Current RN licensure in state of practice; B.S. in nursing or related field desired
    Must be CPR BLS (basic life support) certified
    Extensive knowledge of healthcare legal regulations and best practices
    Aptitude for problem solving
    Understanding of basic budgeting and financial reporting
    Willingness to keep abreast of changing standards in nursing specific to the home health industry/field
    Strong ability to lead and develop staff
    Excellent communication and people skills

Is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Is subject to exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus within guidelines of standard precautions. Appropriate ergonomic and personal safety equipment is provided as needed.
