Position Summary:
This position is the chief content and channels strategist for the college, developing internal and external messaging through a strategic marketing lens. The incumbent oversees content to ensure effective communications while advancing the reputation of the college and the University of Idaho by reaching target audiences to generate engagement in support of strategic goals, priorities, and initiatives. This position also works in a collaborative environment with existing team members and serves as the college's liaison for leveraging and activating marketing strategies in partnership with University Communications and Marketing.
Duties may include:
- Writing, editing, and designing a variety of communication materials in electronic and print format, including but not limited to event branding, reports, forms, web content, brochures, posters, fact sheets, news releases, presentations, and speeches.
- Designing and maintaining the college website, social media presence, and online communications; collaborating on data collection for a variety of reports and maintaining reporting databases.
- Providing data for reports to college leadership with recommendations to market and communicate more effectively.
- Collaborating on planning and promoting special events for high profile guests, official activities, and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or journalism.
- Two years of work experience in marketing or communications.
- Working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals.
- Managing multiple projects with competing deadlines that require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to demonstrate writing, editing, verbal and presentation skills.
- Experience producing and editing informational and persuasive materials.
- Experience overseeing and/or participating in a successful marketing campaign.
- Experience developing, executing, and measuring impact of communications plans and initiatives.
- Applying the AP style to business documents.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Ability to translate technical or specialized information for public use and understanding.
- Experience in media relations.
