Social Media Communications Specialist jobs in Edmond, OK

The Social Media Communications Specialist has primary responsibility for a) producing content for social media b) editing and writing for social media and c) assisting on collaborative creative projects.

The Social Media Communications Specialist will utilize skills in video filming and editing, social media management, digital marketing, content planning, customer service, writing and editing to create and distribute digital content that enhances OSU’s reputation as well as brand awareness among key target audiences. This position will produce content across multiple channels for multiple audiences. The individual should be highly organized and creative and have the ability to manage multiple projects and editorial calendars. These efforts align with OSU’s strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management.

Must have an understanding of social media video filming, editing and writing. The individual should demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase Oklahoma State University.

Some nights and weekend work required.

The Department of Brand Management oversees all representations of the Oklahoma State University brand. Our areas of expertise include media relations, crisis communications, internal/external messaging, branding, advertising, recruitment communications, visual media, digital strategy and more. Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, English or a related field.

Demonstrated experience in communications, including, but not limited to social media, video, web, writing, editing and content creation. This includes 1 year of experience in social media content creation. Applicable internship or class projects will be considered.

Must have strong video editing and filming skills, specifically for social media platforms. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to organize materials, write, edit, and visualize concepts. Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of AP style, and the ability to adapt writing based on audience and platform. Must be comfortable speaking with stakeholders and communicating with multiple contacts for projects. Social media experience required. Experience editing videos for TikTok or Instagram Reels is required.

Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors, unit staff and campus partners to ensure collaborative environment, coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes. Must learn quickly and demonstrate flexibility in the work environment. Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the brand of Oklahoma State University.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of experience in social media content creation or social media management.

Experience managing social media and video content for a brand or organization. Relevant experience in producing content for multiple social media channels, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and LinkedIn. Experience with social media listening, reporting and management tools such as Sprout Social, Adobe suite graphic design and video editing softwares. Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
