Coe College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Social Media Specialist. The Social Media Specialist uses their creative spirit, analytical abilities and social media acumen to capture and relay the excitement and possibilities of life on a college campus. This position will demonstrate the impact of a Coe education via original and trending content and campaigns specific to social media platforms, as well as contributing content for the website, video and other communications avenues at the direction of the Director of Content Development. Other responsibilities include monitoring and managing all interactions on the college’s social media channels.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- In a fast-paced setting, create original content for social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn etc) and the website, which may include blogs, feature stories and other marketing materials based on the college's mission and strategic goals.
- Increase engagement and visibility of the college across social platforms and the website.
- Manage and maintain the social media content calendar to ensure frequent and relevant engagement across social platforms.
- Monitor, manage and report on comments, interactions, engagement and paid social media efforts while staying informed of social media trends to advise the Director of Content Development, Executive Director of Marketing and Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Institutional Effectiveness.
- Must be able to develop content in a clear and easy to understand format regardless of the medium and in high-pressure situations.
- Understand and apply the existing Coe College brand (tone, voice, etc.) to all work.
- Evaluate social media processes for any potential gains in efficiency.
- Continually analyze the website to make enhancements for SEO.
- Develop landing pages and micro-sites as needed.
- Contribute to other marketing efforts as needed and directed by the Director and Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 1-3 years of experience in marketing and written content development.
- In-depth knowledge of marketing on social platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn. Exceptional attention to detail and communication, listening, writing and proofing skills.
- Multitasking abilities.
- An eye for photography and visuals used in social media.
- Excellent command over written English and AP Style (or a desire to learn AP Style)
- Knowledge of the general functionality of a website CMS is desired.
- Knowledge of SEO or a desire to learn the basics of SEO.
- Successful completion of a background check in accordance with Coe College policy.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Typical office setting—stationary for several hours at a time but the position does include extensive walking/movement around campus at times.
- Ability to monitor social media on weekends, evenings and during unexpected hours.
