SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Social Media & Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for all content creation and planning of HSUTX social media accounts, creating a unique social media presence. Secondarily, this position will assist the Communications and Content Strategy Specialist in writing content for several departments on campus as needed. This position will oversee social media student workers and the HSU Instagram Ambassador program, partner with admissions to increase enrollment and retention through ZeeMee, and develop all social media content for the main university platforms. Other duties include reporting growth and statistics for all HSU social media and Instagram Ambassador platforms, creating monthly social media plans for HSU and ambassador content, filming and editing photos and videos, and researching new ideas for the university’s social presence. In assistance to the Communications and Content Strategy Specialist, this position will develop a social media communication plan, research free outlets to push stories and social media to reach a wider audience, create awareness for events on campus, write news stories for the website and Range Rider magazine, create Press Releases for events and news on campus, and work closely with departments on campus to capture the message of HSU when needed.
