Small Engine Mechanic repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Small Engine Mechanic may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Small Engine Mechanic relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The primary responsibility of the Repair/Rental Center Associate is to process Stihl equipment repairs, chain sharpening, tool sharpening and process rentals in a timely and professional manner.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure customers are receiving the best customer service
Maintain a safe, organized and clean shop
Respond to repair center calls
Responsible for getting projects done in an efficient and timely manner
Ensure all Stihl paperwork for each tool sold is completed and on-line warranty is submitted
Keep up with current Stihl training and new products
Order Stihl equipment accordingly
Maintain and clean rental equipment
Process rentals
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
Able to tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers
Skills/Knowledge: Must be Stihl certified ( or willing to become Stihl certified). Knowledge of chain sharpening, tool sharpening, and Stihl repairs.
