    Job Description Summary:
    Manages and coordinates a major program or set of programs established to address a key area of specialized need within the University and the community. Provides advanced professional/technical leadership, consultation, and expertise within the program's area of focus, as well as day-to-day administrative and functional management of the program's activities and staff. Sets strategic direction, develops and implements work scope and related operational policies and procedures; establishes funding, and provides operational planning, budgeting, and assessment. Programs/projects managed are of key operational impact, both within and external to the University, and are typically revenue-generating and/or grant-funded from a major funding source or series of funding sources.

    Job Description:
    The Program Director, Training, Quality and Education is responsible for:
    The development, management and organization of the onboarding, training and continued education within the Clinical Trials Organization (CTO) assuring that employees and managers are properly trained to perform their assigned duties. They will be responsible for training program delivery, as well as providing ongoing infrastructure development and maintenance of the KUCC CTO core curriculum, expanding into Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and expanding across the entire CTO.
    The development, implementation and tracking of Quality Initiatives within the CTO to ensure CTO established standard processes and procedures are being followed and maintained. They will be responsible for ensuring that the CTO collaborates with the KUCC QA department to provide quality control support, assistance and direction for clinical trials supported by KUCC or where KUCC is a participating site.

    The starting salary for this position will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range listed.

    Required Qualifications:
    Education :
    Bachelor's degree in science or health care related field.
    Research certification required such as: Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or other related research certification.

    Work Experience :
    Four years of clinical research experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for direct clinical research experience.
    A minimum of two years oncology experience required. Medical/Nursing school training may be substituted for clinical/oncology experience.
    Previous experience working in health-care related settings.
    Clinical background experience and knowledge.
    Experience with Electronic Medical Record charting.
    Experience with clinical research databases and software.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Education :
    Advanced degree in science or health care related field.

    Work Experience : Experience with Clinical Trials Management Systems.

    Academic, pharmaceutical industry or contract research organization experience.
    Previous experience working with DEI initiatives.

    Skills :
    This position will have daily interaction with clinical research staff, investigators, patients and clinic staff; therefore, candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as MS Outlook, Windows, Excel and Word.
    Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking/managing multiple and competing priorities.
    Work independently and collaboratively.
    Professional knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology concepts
    as they relate to oncology patients; Must be proficient in medical terminology.

    Job Duties Outlined:
    The Program Director will identify and assess professional and leadership development needs and performance gaps and well as benchmark CTO SOPs, develop process improvement strategies, DEI educational experiences, and ensure training is completed and up to date. The Program Director will enhance professional growth and development of employees by providing job specific training, continuing education, and DEI educational experiences through presentations, in-services and other educational programs. S/he will develop and provide competence-based orientation to new employees and collect objective, measurable feedback to adjust and plan for future training needs.
    Collaborate with KUCC DEI teams to ensure that strategies listed the KUCC's Workforce Equity Plan to Enhance Diversity are reflected in the Clinical Trial Office. Will also collaborate the KUMC Office for Diversity Equity and Inclusion to ensure that institutional level initiatives are implemented in the CTO.
    The Program Director will lead and develop Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion educational experiences for the CTO that will align with the initiatives of the KUCC Cancer Work Force Equity Plan to Enhance Diversity and the KUMC Office for Diversity Equity and Inclusion to grow our staff and provide support and growth opportunities.
    This individual will partner with Clinical Operation to further develop screening and safety tools/positions to support the growing team.
    The Program Director ensures that all clinical and departmental operations are conducted according to the mission of the Cancer Center to achieve excellence in clinical activities in the delivery of patient care and services.
    The Program Director will adhere to guidelines regarding transparent and honest reporting of confidential and sensitive patient information.
    Demonstrate the use of sensitivity, tact and good judgment in communicating with physicians, clinical trials and health system personnel and patients.
    Exhibit understanding of the impact of data integrity in terms of patients, study results, costs, quality of service and scientific research in general.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
