Shipping and Receiving Supervisor supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, and load and unload trucks. Also responsible for managing the inter-departmental transport of materials. Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Job Summary:
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment using quality and productivity standards to ensure customer satisfaction. Receives, inventories and stages incoming material shipments.
Duties:
· Receive Incoming Materials/Goods – Drive forktruck to unload material, open boxes (UPS). Inventory each item and enter as received into M1. Prep and label items per job. Much of this is done by hand and requires good penmanship. Stage items in the appropriate area. Take pictures of damaged goods as proof of delivery condition.
· Ship Finished Goods/Materials – Verify any required inspections are complete. Clean materials as needed to be prepared for shipment. Locate proper shipping materials: boxes or skids. Secure items in box or on skid. Create packing list. Create Bill of Lading/UPS label. Arrange for transportation as needed. Take pictures of finished goods for proof of as-shipped condition. Load onto truck for outgoing shipment.
· Documentation Tracking – Match MTR to HT (Heat Number) on each item received. Connect project PO (Purchase Order) to MTR so documents can be tracked by job.
· Material Staging – Moving and relocating WIP (Work in process) to proper department/area.
· Create POs for Consumables – Vendors supply consumable materials for the shop and POs need to be created each time the supply is replenished.
· Waste Disposal – Manage disposition of waste materials throughout the plant. Assist with trash removal from each department including materials to be recycled, particularly when disposal requires forklift assistance.
· Operate overhead crane as needed
· Participate in all safety programs and follow all safety rules and policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving
- Proficient in basic math calculations
- Forktruck Certification preferred
- Overhead Crane Certification preferred
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Physical Requirements:
This position involves exposure to physical hazards associated with working in shipping/receiving environments 100% of the time. This position involves indoor/sheltered work, as well as involves frequent exposure to noise levels that may exceed 85 Db.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending and stooping is required. Occasional working in tight spaces is required.
Infrequently involves temperature extremes and fume/odors consistent with a metal shop environment.
Routine lifting of up to 50 lbs. Periodic requirement to lift over 50 lbs. (It is expected that you will find help lifting any load in excess of 50 lbs.)
