    Overview

Corvid Manufacturing (part of Corvid Technologies LLC) is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Shipping and Receiving Clerk.  This is a new standalone position created to meet the challenges of quickly expanding operations.  Corvid Manufacturing is set on a growth path that will see a dramatic increase in business over the next several years and is looking for someone to not only handle existing duties, but someone who can grow along with the department and help develop this new position.

    Responsibilities

    • Arrange for shipment transport.  This will consist of contacting shipping companies and scheduling transport while keeping target delivery dates in mind.  The candidate will also need to plan around any additional time required for meeting special transport or shipping requests.
    • Prepare outgoing shipments.  These will range in size from “parcel” to “freight”, following any specific requests from colleagues or customers for packaging or shipping said items.  The candidate will need to be able to pack, strap, palletize, wrap, or otherwise secure items for safe transport.  This will require the ability to move or shift heavy objects and to kneel, bend, twist, and engage in potentially strenuous movement at times.
    • Load and unload delivery trucks.  The candidate will need to have the ability to operate one of a few different types of forklifts to safely and proficiently transfer shipments to or from their delivery vehicles.  They will need to engage with delivery drivers to determine the best methods and order in which to accomplish this.
    • Receive incoming shipments.  Relating specifically to ordered items, this will entail checking the contents of boxes, crates, and pallets delivered to the shop and comparing the contents and the packing slip against the initial Purchase Order to verify that all items have been received and are in acceptable condition.  The candidate will then enter the items in an ERP tracking system and either notify the intended recipient or deliver it to them.
    • Take inventory.  Using the ERP system, the candidate will periodically assess the supply of both raw materials and finished products involved in manufacturing operations and ensure that said supply accurately matches the current records.
    • Keep the shop organized.  In a constantly evolving and changing work environment, the candidate will assist in helping the shop maintain an air of orderliness and cleanliness.  This may involve shifting furniture/pallets/boxes to make room for new projects, reordering basic shop supplies to keep up with desired par levels, or doing some basic cleaning (such as emptying trash, mopping, or vacuuming) as necessary.

    Requirements

    • Basic computer literacy.  The position will require the ability to utilize websites, Excel sheets, an ERP system while using either a standard computer or a handheld tablet.
    • The ability to engage in taxing physical activity.  While not a “hard labor” position, the candidate will at times need to lift or move heavy objects, and to bend, kneel, reach, and otherwise engage in potentially strenuous positions.
    • Reliable and accessible transportation.  During the course of a workday, the candidate may need to drive between different locations in the Mooresville area and should have ready access to a vehicle.  Mileage will be reimbursed by the company.
    • Attention to detail.  The candidate will be asked to track and maintain inventory, prepare and schedule shipments, and verify the integrity of shipped products.  The ability to notice and remember details is critical to the position.
    • A willingness and ability to learn.  While prior experience in shipping and receiving is preferred, a candidate with a positive attitude who is willing and able to learn on the job can be a vital member of the team and will be given every consideration.
