Shipping and Receiving Clerk assembles orders and prepares goods for shipment. Receives, unpacks, inspects and stores incoming materials and supplies. Being a Shipping and Receiving Clerk uses shipping records to verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Documents damages and discrepancies for future reimbursement and reconciliation. Additionally, Shipping and Receiving Clerk typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to supervisor. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
A. Project a positive, helpful, and professional attitude toward our customer.
B. Receive shipments as they are delivered from freight carriers and assist parts courier with loading, unloading and processing parts from delivery truck. Count, weigh, or measure items in incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders and other records.
C. Verify packing slips with contents of parts delivered. Check for damaged freight.
D. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Responsible for filing damage claims with vendors or freight carriers. File copy of claim.
E. Prioritize customer orders so all inbound customer orders are handled same day.
F. Ship and record outgoing packages.
A. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
B. Must have excellent reading skills and legible handwriting.
C. Must have excellent communication skills.
D. Must have valid operator's license.
