Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Summary: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
Qualifications: 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Ability to obtain forklift certification through Company training program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Must have good working knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand application for use.
-Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
-Coordinates shipping of freight by contacting appropriate freight carrier.
-Generates shipping documents as required.
-Confers with Supervisor to determine parts to be shipped. Compares identifying information and counts of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
-Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
-Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers.
-Oversees all shipping of finished product.
-Responsible for receiving and proper storage of inventory (finished goods and raw materials).
-Responsible for advising Production Manager or designee of low inventory and need to replenish.
-Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
-Routes items to departments.
-Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
-Operates forklift to move materials to storage or work area or truck for shipment.
-Uses caution when transporting parts to avoid breakage, damage, scratches, etc.
-Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands; While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to above or below normal heat temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
