Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries is hiring a Shipping Specialist at our Kansas City, MO location. This role will report to the Warehouse Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Prepares the distribution/processing of materials, products, parts/tools, and/or equipment for shipment:Receives orders/requests from customers and internal employees.Picks, Packs, and Stages the orders and ensures order and items match using scanning tools.Loads shipments on flatbed or LTL truck safely.Communicates all necessary information on each shipment to CSR or SupervisorReceives/processes the incoming of materials, products, parts/tools, and/or equipment as needed based on PTO coverage and volume of the day.(Inspect materials for potential damage, documents & reports, as necessary. Receive materials from van truck loads and flatbed loads. Replenish warehouse stock and rotate as required using reach truck or forklift.)Operates warehouse equipment (Use of forklift, order picker, reach truck, and walkie rider pallet jack required. Must have the ability to operate equipment safely.)Participates in departmental process improvement. At times will direct work to staff under the direction of the site supervisor i.e., running the picking desk or other functional areas to ensure proper coverage across the DC. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience: Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent with 2 years of warehouse experience, preferably with steel or tubing; or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, andpercent.Reasoning Ability: Ability to read and interpretdocuments. Excellent organizational and time management skills.Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and coworkers.
Computer Skills: Ability to operate MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), internal business application computer system, and ability to be trained in bar-coding. Other Qualifications: Must follow safety standards when working with tools and equipment and must be able to receive forklift certification and dock leveler training within first week ofnstart in the position. After first week, must be able to operate dock leveler, as well as forklift in a variety of weather and traffic conditions. Must also be able to receive 10-hour OSHA certificate approximately within the first month of start in thisposition. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience: Highschool Diploma with three (3) years of experience in steel or tubing warehousing.
Other Qualifications: Bar-coding proficiency is preferred. Additionally, basic knowledge of warehouse tools and equipment is a plus. Computer Skills: SAP knowledge or Scanning tools
