SUMMARY
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist manages the inventory, shipping, receiving, and day-to-day warehousing operations. These responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies, supporting production teams, meeting customer requirements, and continuously improving efficiency.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
·Ensures that materials shipped are verified against pertinent documentation
·Establishes and maintains procedures for determining and meeting company and customer delivery commitments by handling materials, providing labor, and effective use of time
·Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department to ensure inventory accuracy
·Follows shipping methods for materials using the operations procedures; resolves emergent issues for expedited deliveries to the customer and/or job site
·Coordinates export of goods by scheduling international shipments and ensuring compliance with import/export regulations
·Monitors the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of inbound and outbound shipments
·Maintains working relationships with transportation representatives, vendors, and suppliers to ensure cost control and competitiveness
·Interfaces with customers/sales regarding product delivery time schedules
·Interfaces with other departments to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of order cancellations/re-routing
·Monitors and tracks shipping vendor performance
·Schedules and tracks all inbound and outbound shipments
·Ensures that daily goals are met and sustained daily/weekly/monthly
·Completes all customs documentation
·Ensures that inventory counts and locations are correct
·Ensures accurate, timely, and effective processing of inbound and outbound materials, shipments, and requests
·Directs department workflow to ensure effective and efficient flow of material through the warehouse/stockroom

·Reviews all shipping documents daily for any discrepancies that may need to be addressed before clearance
·Identifies roadblocks to processes and procedures and offers suggestions for improvement
·Oversees all incoming and outgoing activities in the warehouse
·Ensures that all manufactured products and raw materials are effectively managed to meet all US and foreign government export laws and regulations; ensures accuracy and proper retention of all export documentation; manages company’s compliance with the applicable US and foreign export regulations; assists in clearing shipments through US customs; prepares NAFTA certification; works with Purchasing to ensure the country of origin, HTS, Incoterms and other relevant information is included on packing list/commercial invoice
