Shipping Operations Manager manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports. Being a Shipping Operations Manager ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Additionally, Shipping Operations Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Shipping Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Shipping Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. SUMMARY:
The shipping coordinator is responsible for processing all outbound freight through the final stage.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure all customer orders are package and labeled with no to minimal errors and allowing for no damage in shipping through wrapping and/or banding
- Verify all part numbers prior to packaging and ensure accurate quantities based on customer orders
- Apply shipping labels to all packaged goods and routing item appropriate staging area for shipping
- Prepare all necessary paperwork and electronic bills of lading at high accuracy, maintaining all relatedly shipping records and logs
- Maintain a clean work area, with adequate supplies of packaging materials
- Ensure safe operation of forklift, pallet jacks, and any other necessary equipment.
- Load and unload shipments
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
- Forklift certification or prior experience
- The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
