May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 2-4 years of experience in the field. Being a Ship Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Ship Engineer performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.     In this position, the employee is responsible for meeting production requirements, following appropriate instructions and safety methods while performing basic general warehouse duties with the department they are assigned to. Warehouse Employees can be asked, at any point throughout the day, to move to a different department and even different physical location to assist in meeting production requirements to meet the customers' demands. The essential functions of this job description only reflect the requirements of an employee assigned as a General Warehouse employee in the Pick/Pack/Ship Department.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    General Duties:

    • Selects the correct size carton based on order.
    • Places labels on cartons properly oriented for system scanners.
    • Picks and prepares product for shipment, ensuring the correct quantity, ISBN and type of product. Inspects books visually before placing in shipping carton.
    • Records the proper adjustments for short shipments on the carton.
    • Moves from location to location when work is slow or heavy.
    • Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area.
    • Conducts operations in a manner which promotes safety.
    • Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.

    • Complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.

    Education and/or Experience:
    High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

    Language Skills:
    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, safety rules, and memos. Ability to write legibly and effectively communicate one-on-one.

    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    Other skills and abilities:
    Basic computer and keyboarding skills and the ability to learn WMS.
