What You’ll Get to Do:
You, and your team, will develop requirements, review drawings, and debug Machinery Control Systems and Automated Systems for Naval Ships like T-AGOS, T-ARC, T-ATS, NGLS, LAW, LPD Flight II, LHAs and LHDs, LCS and Unmanned Vessels. As part of the Government’s design team, you will oversee shipyard design products, integrate the Government furnished systems to the ship specification boundary, identify risks, approve technical products and change order packages, and assist the Program Manager in approving the shipbuilding contract technical specification for the detail design and construction of the lead ship.
We help our customers in PEO Ships, PEO USC, PEO CVN and NAVSEA with procurement of a wide portfolio of ship types, from small patrol boats to aircraft carriers. We have over 1,000 engineers in roles like this one. You will join our electrical engineering team, with a mix of young and experienced talent, where you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Machinery Control Systems and Automation in our Engineering Group. The role is principally in DC, with occasional travel to shipyards or ship visits for design and construction reviews.
More About the Role:
You will act as the senior technical expert for review and coordinating the integration of the engineering products drafted by a joint Canadian/U.S. total ship engineering team developing the total ship technical specification solution that satisfies the specified performance requirements. You will prepare and review specifications for the detailed design and construction of the combatant. You will review and advise on the adequacy of engineering change proposal technical content, identifying total ship system impacts and risks to key performance parameters and mission requirements. You will interface with the Program Manager and the shipyard through Integrated Product Teams and during Design/Construction reviews. You will advise the PM on technical performance, cost and schedule impacts, risk and safety issues that arise during the ship construction and delivery process.
