Sheetmetal Mechanic sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, saws, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheetmetal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Being a Sheetmetal Mechanic uses hand and power tools to shape, cut, and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment. Additionally, Sheetmetal Mechanic typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires a Sheetmetal Apprenticeship. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Sheetmetal Mechanic works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Acadian Ambulance Service has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Mechanic to work in our Ocean Springs, MS shop.  The incumbent will perform troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on our ambulance vehicles. 

    Duties include but not limited to:

    • Inspect and repair company vehicles
    • Preventive Maintenance on ambulance fleet and other company vehicles.
    • Write work tickets
    • Mechanical related repairs
    • Work with shop employees and supervisors
    • Electrical repairs
    • Drive vehicles

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Clean driving record.
    • Current driver’s license (Class-D Required)
    • On-the-job training with two to three years of mechanical experience; related training by G.M. or other schools (trade or otherwise).
    • Mechanical knowledge; reading; writing; speaking; hand tool use; specialized tool use.
    • Have basic hand tools.
