Summary

Assists workers engaged in preparing foods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits.
• Cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood.
• Dips food items in crumbs, flour, and batter to bread them.
• Stirs, strains soups and sauces.
• Weighs and measures designated ingredients.
• Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator.
• Stores foods in designated areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Segregates and removes garbage, and steam cleans or hoses garbage containers.
• Follows proper cleaning and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Follow proper cleaning.
• Provide attentive and friendly service to customers.
• Set up, break down and cleaning of all buffet-serving tables.
• Stocking and maintaining par levels of buffet tables, as well as workstations in the kitchen.
• Cut and stock desserts, as needed.
• Communication with cooks relaying food usage and quality control.
• Supplying customers with information regarding the items being served on the buffet by affixing appropriate name tags above food items.
• Check for proper temperature and time control for all items on the buffet line.
• Storage and maintenance of buffet decorations.
• Some prep cooks may be assigned to stock the buffet and/or operate cash register.

• Follow proper HAACP guidelines when handling, preparing, storing or stocking food items.

• Follow established company and departmental standards for personal appearance and behavior.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Hepatitis B shot
• Slip resistant shoes

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred and/or one to three months related experience and/or training.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, menus, recipes, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers. Ability to measure foods in proportions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral

instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to request guidance as needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission. Food handlers permit from a relevant government agency.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to slippery wet or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and moving mechanical parts, The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
