Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Specialist coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Specialist monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The Employment Security Department is hiring a full-time, non-permanent Employment Development Specialist to join the team at Wenatchee Valley WorkSource. This non-permanent role is anticipated to last through December, 2024. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with members of your community and assist them in removing barriers, finding gainful employment, and connecting them to valuable resources.

    Duties

    As an Employment Specialist, you will provide direct and integrated services to job seekers and employers both inside the WorkSource office and out in the community. You will assist employers to meet their labor needs by conducting activities that will match job seekers to employer openings. You will conduct daily outreach to employers to discuss with hiring, set up hiring events, job and resource fairs. You will participate with community partners to build on a business services committee, contribution your time and expertise in employer outreach services. You will be able to help people with career or employment guidance, help customers access skills training providers, or refer to them to other resources through WorkSource and our community partner services. Your ability to connect with customers in both English and Spanish means that WorkSource services are made accessible to more people in Washington that need them. The work you will do in this role contributes to healthy communities by providing people equitable access to resources that improve economic security and ensuring that everyone in Washington has full access to the opportunities, power, and resources they need to flourish and achieve their full potential.

    This role is located in East Wenatchee, Washington and offers a hybrid schedule of 1 day a week of remote work with the remaining days of the week reporting to the Wenatchee Valley WorkSource Office.

    Some of what you will do:
    • Provide staff-assisted customer services, conduct group and individual in-depth interviews in both English and Spanish.
    • Provide employer support to complete registrations, post jobs and review hiring practices , and customer needs.
    • Assist customers in the use of technical assistant services including technology, resumes, applications, and interview skills training.
    • Collaborate with WorkSource partners regarding hiring events, Employer of the Day activities, and recommendations; negotiate and confirm job seeker skills and abilities to apply for employment.
    • Provide information about the full range of agency services and programs.
    • Represent the workforce partnership process; communicate and work closely with internal and external partners; be responsive to requests.
    • Answer phone calls and direct to the appropriate team as well as providing timely responses to email and face-to-face interactions.

    Qualifications

    Required:
    • One year as a WorkSource Specialist 2 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or another state's Employment Security agency
    OR
    • A Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience in workforce development, social services or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work, such as: unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims, law enforcement and banking OR a combination of education and/or relevant experience.
    OR
    • A combination of education and/or relevant experience equal to six (6) or more years.

    Education to Experience Equivalences:
    Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelors Degree = 4 years | Masters Degree or Higher = 5 years

    • Must be able to travel on a daily or weekly basis to provide services.
