Security Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Specialist coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Specialist monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     General Statement of Job:

    The purpose of this position is to screen individuals entering a site based on predetermined criteria. The Screening Specialist ensures that the client, its associates, and facility personnel are provided with a safe and professional working environment. The Screening Specialist reports to the Supervisor.

    Essential Job Functions:


    • Facilitate initial screening of individuals that enter a site, including determination if the individual may progress based on set thresholds
    • Conduct temperature reading on individuals, either using a handheld touchless thermometer
    • Monitor infrared camera views to identify individuals who meet or exceed set tolerance levels
    • Maintain daily administrative documentation
    • Provide escort services to the client’s visitors, contractors and vendors as required
    • Investigate security related accidents/incidents
    • Perform other related duties as required

    The ideal candidate will:


    • Have a High School diploma (or GED) required
    • Have Active California Guard Card
    • Complete and maintain state Guard Certification as prescribed by presiding state law, as well as all client requested certifications; all documentation and fees are the responsibility of the employee unless otherwise noted
    • Must be a dependable team player with business maturity and enthusiasm with the ability to deliver high level of customer service
    • Have flexibility to work any shifts on any day of the week (Mon-Sun) and willingness to assist the team with overtime when needed
