Security Manager implements security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Manager trains staff and establishes operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors and inspects systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Manager participates in education programs and contributes to communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Engages with local, state, provincial, or federal authorities to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Initiates or assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Security Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Security Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Security Supervisor
Duties:
- Oversee and manage a team of security officers to ensure the safety and security of the premises
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures
- Conduct investigations into security breaches or incidents
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary
- Provide training and guidance to security staff on best practices and protocols
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to security activities
Must be available to cover shifts as needed
Skills:
- Proficient in operating CCTV systems and other security equipment
- Possess current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Knowledge of loss prevention techniques and strategies
- Experience in surveillance and monitoring activities
- Familiarity with law enforcement procedures and regulations
- Strong conflict management skills to handle difficult situations effectively
- Ability to lead and supervise a team of security officers
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in security management is a plus
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the security industry
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
