Security Director implements overall security strategy, policies, and standards to ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Conducts regular audits and inspections to assess, identify, and mitigate any security vulnerabilities or gaps. Being a Security Director implements staff training and operational plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Manages and maintains systems, alarms, and other physical security measures. Additionally, Security Director delivers education programs and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues. Participates in local, state, provincial, or federal working or advisory groups to keep abreast with all security-related information, directives, and events. Leads and directs significant investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies. Possess a broad knowledge of law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Requires a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or related discipline. Typically reports to senior management. The Security Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     About the Role:

    The Physical Security Director oversees and manages all aspects of physical security for the Bank and is responsible for establishing the vision and strategic direction of the bank’s physical security programs. This includes development of comprehensive security strategies and procedures, maintaining regulatory and legislative compliance and implementing programs to ensure the protection of the bank’s employees, customers, visitors, and company assets.
    • Manage security operations for the Bank’s ATM’s, retail branches, administrative locations and respond to workplace instances.
    • Manage implementation and administration of security systems, such as video management systems, alarms and alarm monitoring, and access control across the platform.
    • Liaise with law enforcement and emergency response agencies to ensure effective coordination in the event of a threat or incident.
    • Respond to 24/7 emergency situations wherever geographically possible, including robberies, burglaries, assaults, vagrancy, and ATM attacks.
    • Prepare executive and board level reports to track and meet project targets and budgets, escalate issues and roadblocks, and recommend solutions to resolve challenges.
    • Develop physical security policies and standard operating procedures and ensure they are consistently and uniformly applied throughout all departments.
    • Develop and maintain security risk assessment process and mitigation strategies to ensure safety and soundness across the bank platform.
    • Liaise between the banks lines of business to ensure adherence with policy standards and compliance requirements.
    • Assist with physical security regulatory examinations, internal audits and other tasks as assigned.
    • Develop and maintain effective and collaborate relationships with key stakeholders and vendors.
    • Provide direction and assist security team members to ensure management and monitoring of critical bank security compliance and program activities.
    • Review and approve physical security budgets, expenses, workorders and invoices.
    • Manage and instruct physical security education programs in a classroom, virtual environment, or one-on-one situations.
    • Manage the hiring and development of security team members, to include annual performance evaluations.
    • Ensure banks adherence to Federal Reserve Board Regulation H, Section 208.61, Bank Security Procedures.
    • Lead, motivate and mentor direct reports including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, and providing clear and regular feedback.
    • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
    • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations and completes all required annual or job specific training.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the Banks written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
    • May be asked to coach, mentor or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert.
    • Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.
    • Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.

    About
    You:

    • H.S Diploma or GED, required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, required
    • Security Certifications - Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP), preferred
    • 6-10 years experience managing a Physical Security department, required
    • Preference for direct experience within a banking environment and responsibility for bank security, risk management, bank, and branch operations.)
    • 4-6 years, supervisory management experience, required
    • Proven track record in program management and successful delivery of enterprise projects, products and solutions.
    • Working knowledge of workplace violence prevention programming and planning.
    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Proven ability to present ideas and concepts to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to successfully work in fast-pasted, dynamic, and ambiguous environment operating environment.
    • Ability to conduct analytical research and complete comprehensive reports from the research.
    • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
    • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and ability to produce clear concise details of security events.
    • Advanced analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
    • Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to develop strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
    • Proven track record in program management delivering enterprise projects, products and solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to direct, lead or influence others to achieve goals.
    • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office product suite.
    • Working knowledge of physical security systems (Genetec preferred)
    • Proven ability to effectively coach, train and mentor others and experience with personnel actions such as hiring, motivating, developing and performance activity.

    We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $95,000.00 to $160,000.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
