Security Coordinator administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Coordinator coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Coordinator monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Coordinator work is highly independent. Rappahannock Community College is seeking a Campus Safety and Emergency Coordinator . Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services, The Campus Safety and Emergency Coordinator will manage all functions concerning public safety and emergency management including maintaining a safe environment, maintaining and implementing emergency preparedness plans and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Campus Safety and Emergency Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all safety and emergency preparedness activities on RCC’s two main campuses and 3 sites.
The coordinator will also be responsible for conducting safety drills, training staff and students on emergency procedures, and serving as the primary point of contact during emergencies in the absence of the Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services.
The ideal candidate should have a thorough understanding of safety rules and guidelines, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
This is a part-time, wage position, with no benefits or supervisory duties. The anticipated hiring range is $32-$38 per hour, commensurate with experience.
This position will be based on our Glenns Campus in Gloucester. The schedule for this position is flexible and telework eligible.
This position may need to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The incumbent will serve on the Safety and Violence prevention committee as the recorder, and also will serve on the Threat Assessment and Title IX committees.
The coordinator will assess and enhance physical security including surveillance systems, access controls, OSHA, and ADA requirements.
The incumbent will attend Incident command trainings and other safety and preparedness trainings hosted by FEMA, VDEM, and DCJS.
