Security Coordinator administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Being a Security Coordinator coordinates any required security clearance processing or investigative research for employees or job candidates with applicable entities. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Additionally, Security Coordinator monitors communications and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Security Coordinator work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Security Coordinator typically requires 7+ years of related experience.     The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) is responsible for the policy development and budgetary oversight of its secretariat agencies, independent divisions and programs, and several boards which aid in crime prevention, homeland security preparedness, and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors in the Commonwealth.

    About the Role:

    The incumbent of this position monitors workflow through assigned unit activities to ensure effective operations and compliance with established standards and provides primary support to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Undersecretary of Criminal Justice.

    Primary Duties:

    Work closely with the MPTC and other law enforcement agencies under EPS oversight to supplement future trainings and electives.

    Integrate bioethical principles into current and future work around law enforcement and criminal justice objectives.

    Explore and support alternative, complementary, and groundbreaking solutions to current issues within law enforcement and criminal justice.

    Initiate, facilitate, and maintain communication between different disciplines to supplement public safety.

    Work closely with the DOC to supplement future programs.

    Utilize and interpret data and research to inform projects and initiatives around incarcerated populations and those reentering the community.

    Assist in projects and initiatives which promote positive system change around high priority areas, such as reentry, workforce development, emerging adults, and restorative justice.

    Promote initiatives around officer health & wellness and training at the DOC by working closely with the Commissioner’s Office and the academy’s training team.

    Improve outcomes by focusing on issues surrounding emerging adult populations and officer health & wellness.

    MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

    Substitutions:
    I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.*

    II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*

    • Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
