As Mechanical Systems Optimization Specialist, you will use your experience in mechanical systems analysis to develop more efficient and sustainable Building Automation Systems (BAS). Located at Ecosystem’s Georgetown, DC office, the Mechanical Systems Optimization Specialist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians on a multimillion-dollar, large-scale energy solutions projects at a higher-education facility. You will master all technical aspects of project mechanical equipment, establish cooperative relationships with building operators, and provide those operators on-site training and support, bringing a significant value-
What you will do...
• Perform on-site surveys of the client’s existing controls and BAS during the design phase.
• Analyze the client’s existing sequences of operation as well as the performance of their mechanical systems.
• Select and size the correct major controls devices, such as valves, actuators, end devices and DDC controllers.
• Establish and document new and existing control points.
• Establish sequences of operation.
• Work closely with the Construction Manager to develop RFPs to attract the correct controls contractor for hire or subcontracting.
• Collaborate with the Construction Manager and mechanical systems manufacturers to perform startups and commissioningon all systems and equipment, including boilers and chillers.
• Train the client’s on-site staff in use for operation and maintenance of newly installed mechanical systems
• Optimize the operation of new and existing equipment and systems to achieve peak efficiency.
• Monitor completed projects to maintain energy savings during the follow-up period.
Your profile…
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Associate’s degree in Building Mechanics or Instrumentation and Controls, or other relevant education and/or experience
• 8 years of experience in Building Automation Systems (HVAC)
• Understanding of mechanical systems
• Proficiency in control systems from leading manufacturers, such as Siemens, ALC and Schneider.
• Frequent travel on-site (40%) to Georgetown, DC for performance monitoring, construction and commissioning phases.
• Occasional travel to Canada and other United States offices.
• Valid driver's licence
