The ideal candidate will provide our government, commercial and not-for-profit clients with the services and solutions needed to efficiently and effectively manage native and non-native vegetation utilizing the fundamentals of Integrated Pest/Vegetation Management (IPM/IVM). Most of the year will be spent on the Vegetation Management Team and will include some traveling. Travel projects are typically located in Massachusetts, but possible travel throughout the Northeast United States. The winter months may include working on our invasive species (Asian Longhorned Beetle) monitoring program. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Act as site manager during vegetation management projects and report directly to the Project Manager.
Identify native and non-native species (plant and insect)
Prescribe appropriate vegetation management techniques based on our clients needs
Safely operate mowing equipment (zero turn mowers, tractors, string trimmers)
Safely apply herbicide/insecticide
Maintain shop/warehouse in clean and organized condition
Assist Project Manager in tracking herbicide inventory and ordering materials as needed
Conduct minor mechanical repairs to equipment
Manage local DOT Qualified Driver Program
Work independently and with attention to detail
Education and Qualifications:
An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Two to four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Environmental Science, Plant Biology or related discipline or equivalent experience in similar positions is desired.
Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator's License; additional states licenses are a plus.
Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing.
DOT Qualified Driver
Experience in the following fields: Plant Health Care, Landscaping, Weed Science
Proficient working knowledge of computers.
