  • Position Overview

    The Scrum Master will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between strategic product planning and the day-to-day tactical execution of development tasks. Their primary focus will be facilitating the Agile development process, ensuring clear communication between the product and development teams, and helping to translate the digital product roadmap into actionable tasks. This role will perform the duties of a technical scrum master by fostering communication, performing system administration, reporting, meeting facilitation, removing impediments, refining tickets, and leading sprint planning and retrospectives with key stakeholders, including strategic partners. A comprehensive understanding of our application including our software architecture, cloud infrastructure, and IoT devices, the user community, and our customer will be an essential part of this role.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate the Agile development process for our mobile application, supporting APIs and infrastructure, and IoT devices, ensuring high-quality and timely releases.

    • Act as a liaison between the VP of Product and the development team, ensuring that digital product development efforts are closely aligned with strategic goals.

    • Work with the VP of Product and technical teams to break down the roadmap epics into actionable feature work for development.

    • Work closely with the product and development teams to define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, sprint planning, and release cycles.

    • Facilitate all Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, sprint review, retrospectives, and other meetings) and aid the team in eliminating blockers.

    • Develop release notes for internal distribution and communicate on release status.

    • Oversee all stages of product creation including design (UX/UI), development, testing, and product release.

    • Lead sprint demos and present the technology to key stakeholders and/or users to get feedback, as needed. Gather and organize feedback.

    • Unravel issues as you go, discovering the root of the problem and working with the team to solve it.

    • Work with customer support and the technical teams to ensure tier 2 (T2) level technical support is provided including receiving escalated customer technical requests and problems, issue documentation, and cross functional coordination.

    • Do whatever it takes to move the product forward; that could be taking notes in meetings or triaging bugs, summarizing customer feedback, organizing team docs, or sitting down with designers and sketching something out.

    • Stay up-to-date on the latest iOS/Android app trends and technologies, and be an expert with respect to the competition.

    Role Composition

    • 75% Scrum Master: Leads Facilitate the scrum process, ensuring that the team's work aligns with priorities and the overall schedule, and remove impediment so that the technical team can keep getting work done properly.

    • 25% Product management: Works with development, marketing, engineering, sales, customer support, and other key stakeholders to ensure specifications and requirements are understood and prioritized, and the features and benefits that generate customer delight are brought to market.

    Qualifications

    • At least 7 years of experience in product lifecycle management, 3-5 years of experience working in an Agile development environment leveraging Agile methodologies.

    • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role within Agile development teams, organizing sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

    • Experience in a technology-driven environment, with a deep understanding of software development practices and challenges.

    • Understanding of mobile app technologies, user experience principles, and mobile app development process.

    • Analytical mindset with the capability to leverage information from many areas of the business in making responsible and informed development decisions.

    • Strong ability to translate business objectives into scalable technical solutions.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

    • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire a team.

    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, managing relationships with developers, QA specialists, and senior leadership.

    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex challenges and delivering innovative solutions.

    • Attention to detail and with progress over perfection mindset.

    • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and technologies in a fast-paced environment.

    • Experience using Jira or other similar project management tools for software teams.

    Bonus Points

    • Experience in leading cross-functional projects that involve hardware/software integration.

    • Demonstrated success in leading other technical contributors, with a focus on mentoring, motivating, and driving high-performance cultures.
