Scientist - Biotech jobs in Sierra Vista, AZ

• Prepare materials for lab activities for the classroom/outreach events, including shipments.
• Test lab activities for quality control.
• Design new lab activities for the classroom/outreach events.
• Assist in developing or modifying written procedures for classroom instruction.
• Mentor student research projects.
• Submit samples for DNA sequencing and assist with data analysis.
• Order lab supplies.
• Maintain the chemical inventory.
• Maintain lab equipment.
• Update the BIOTECH Project website.
• Oversee undergraduate student assistants in the preparation of materials for lab activities.
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of the molecular concepts, principles, and techniques for working with DNA and protein, such as DNA/protein extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, sequence analysis, molecular cloning, and sterile technique.
• Knowledge of modern research methods and ability to follow protocols, data collection, and notebook/record keeping.
