Position Title: Biotech Operations Manager

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for Innovation and Economic Development, the Biotech Operations Manager will play a critical role in the successful establishment and operation of a state-of-the-art biotech manufacturing facility and Bioinnovation Accelerator. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the design and layout of these facilities, ensuring compliance with FDA regulations, and identifying the equipment and layout necessary to support Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) operations. This role will require close collaboration with NIRC (New Iberia Research Center) and its partners, as well as the selected Contract Drug Manufacturing Organization (CDMO).
Key Responsibilities:
-Collaborate with NIRC, NIRC partners, and the
selected CDMO to design the layout of the manufacturing facility and
Bioinnovation Accelerator. Ensure that the layout aligns with the
specific needs and requirements of all stakeholders.
-Ensure
that both the manufacturing facility and Bioinnovation Accelerator are
designed to meet desktop FDA inspection requirements. This includes all
aspects of facility design, equipment selection, and operational
procedures.
-Identify the drug development
equipment and layout necessary to support CGMP operations. Ensure that
equipment selection is consistent with the needs of NIRC, NIRC partners,
and the selected CDMO.
-Design the layout
of the Bioinnovation Accelerator in alignment with NIRC's and partners'
needs, as well as the requirements of the selected CDMO. Create an
environment conducive to innovation and collaboration.
-Work
diligently to ensure that both the manufacturing facility and
Bioinnovation Accelerator receive approval from FDA inspection.
Coordinate all necessary documentation and processes to meet regulatory
standards.
-Identify the process
development equipment and layout required to support CGMP operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that equipment choices align
with NIRC's and partners' needs, as well as the selected CDMO’s
requirements.

the day-to-day operations of this mega project.

-PhD from a regionally accredited institution
-3 years of facility and operations management experience in an academic or commercial biotech laboratory setting.

-Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
-Experience working both independently and in teams.
-Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines,
multitasking, and completing tasks with multiple interruptions and
distractions.
