Edina Public Schools is seeking exceptional candidates with a proven record of success for the position of
Assistant Superintendent of School Excellence and Innovation. The successful candidate will be a key figure responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality education in a welcoming and inclusive environment, all in alignment with the district's vision, mission, and core values.
Areas of focus for this high-level position include:
Instructional Leadership:
- Guidance and Support: The Assistant Superintendent provides instructional and operational leadership to principals, department leaders, program supervisors, and teaching staff.
- Coaching for Improvement: Offers coaching in areas such as school and department improvement planning, emphasizing instruction, data analysis, intervention, and capacity development to enhance student achievement.
- Support for Core Competencies: Assists principals and department leaders in assessing the core competencies needed by teachers to effectively implement curriculum, deliver instruction, and improve student outcomes.
School Community and Strategic Planning Leadership:
- Strategic and Innovative Initiatives: Leads strategic and innovative initiatives and school improvement planning efforts designed to produce positive outcomes for students.
- Shares Expertise: Observes instruction, establishes priorities, sets goals, and increases student achievement and teacher development.
- Communication Channels: Maintains clear and consistent communication channels with students, families, and community stakeholders to receive input, resolve concerns, and support their needs.
Culture, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership:
- Culturally Competent Practices: Ensures the consistent use of culturally competent school system practices at the building level to meet the needs of each and every student.
- Tools of Cultural Proficiency: Incorporates the Tools of Cultural Proficiency in decision-making at all levels of the school district.
Qualifications: A master’s degree in education, educational administration, educational leadership, or a related field is required. A doctorate is preferred. A valid Minnesota superintendent's license, a minimum of five (5) years of experience serving as an educational administrator, and prior experience as a building principal are required. Experience with the Tools of Cultural Proficiency preferred.
Compensation: This is a twelve-month position with an excellent salary and benefits package.
