Are you a dog lover? Do you love teaching people how to communicate and build a stronger relationship with their dogs? Then this role might be for you! At Zoom Room Fort Mill, we don’t train dogs. We train the people who love them. So when we look for new trainers, our focus is on those with excellent people skills, articulate communication and the ability to command a room.
We are looking for an outgoing, driven individual with a willingness to learn and a great attitude to join our team as a full time professional trainer and sales associate. This individual will help conduct both group and private lessons in addition to assisting with front-desk operations and retail sales.
Zoom Room dog training classes are specially designed to encourage dogs to build confidence and success as they master new behaviors in a simple, step-by-step process. We exclusively use positive reinforcement training while offering group and private classes in obedience, agility, puppy training, as well as enrichment classes and workshops. Classes are capped at 6 dogs and are offered consistently throughout the week and weekends. We also offer private parties and playgroups.
Essential Functions:
- Teach different group classes and workshops, utilizing only positive reinforcement training techniques taught by Zoom Room
- Teach private lessons and develop individualized behavior plans as needed
- Evaluate incoming dogs and recommend appropriate type of training (private vs. group, beginner vs. advanced)
- Assist in updating and refining the training curriculum to stay current with the most recent developments in positive reinforcement dog training
- Supervise social events and playgroups
- Promote and sell appropriate retail items and class packages during and after classes
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the facility, including but not limited to stocking shelves, cleaning the gym, answering the phone and other client inquiries, and monitoring the front desk while providing superior customer service
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be over 18 with high school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous customer service experience
- Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills
- Must successfully complete Zoom Room’s proprietary training program upon hire within established timeline
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Genuine interest in understanding canine behavior and continually improve training methods
- Keen observational and critical thinking skills with an ability to think on one’s feet
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to work weekday and weekend shifts
- One year commitment required
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with or training dogs in either a private or group setting a plus
- Prior experience speaking in or facilitating group settings a plus
- CPDT-KA certification, Karen Pryor Academy (KPA-CTP) certification a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
