We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Safety and Risk Management in our Appleton, WI Corporate Office to lead our safety initiatives and risk mitigation efforts within the fire suppression and construction sector.
As a key member of our leadership team, the Director of Safety and Risk Management will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, and stakeholders while managing risks effectively. In collaboration with the Safety Managers at our operating entities, some of the key responsibilities of this position include:
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based risk management solutions for fire suppression and construction operations.
· Oversee the claims process, working closely with project managers, contractors, insurance providers, and third-party vendors, facilitating efficient and fair claims resolution.
· Enhance and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs and promote a safety-first culture across the organizations.
· Establish emergency response protocols for various scenarios, coordinating drills and training sessions to prepare employees and contractors for emergencies.
· Keep informed of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards related to safety and risk management and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other relevant guidelines.
· Collect and analyze safety and risk data, identify trends and areas for improvement and prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key safety metrics and risk indicators.
To be successful in this role, we expect you will possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or similar field plus a minimum of ten years of professional experience in safety and risk management within the fire suppression and construction industry. Relevant certifications (e.g., ARM, CRM, CSP) are a plus. Other important knowledge, skills and abilities needed for success include an extensive knowledge of self-insured programs and claims management as well as excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
