Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist to join our team. The Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment. The Safety Specialist will support the operations managers, implement, and monitor safety programs, polices, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluate the organization’s procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections, risk assessments, and implementing safeguards and solutions to provide a safe and healthy working environment to all employees. The safety specialist is a vital part to the operation and leadership role. This is a salaried position.

    Duties:

    • Ensure Compliance with OSHA regulations.
    • Maintain a safe working environment while ensuring proper use of safety practices
    • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulation.
    • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
    • Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, and personal protective equipment
    • Investigate accidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
    • Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and ensure their effectiveness
    • Monitor and evaluate workplace practices to ensure adherence to safety standards.
    • Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are followed daily.
    • Support investigation when incidents occur and Cority reporting of all incidents.
    • Complete and maintain all safety reports: OSHA LOGS, KPI’s, OHSMS and others weekly.
    • Ensure group compliance with company, client, and government policies and regulations.
    • Provide safety training and new hire orientation to forklift operators and recertification as required.
    • Investigate incidents, propose counter measures, and verify results.
    • Maintain and create monthly KPI measures and report out to management via safety communication boards.
    • Lead monthly safety committee and small group meetings.
    • Communicate and schedule weekly safety meetings with management and review safety concerns.
    • Maintain OHSMS documentation and identify Risks.
    • Develop new training decks for required regulatory training and schedule training for night shift team members.
    • Document and compile safety data trends for injuries, incidents, and all processes for evaluations.
    • Work closely with Senior Safety Manager and Corporate Safety group to follow OHSMS and implement elements into all daily processes and programs.
    • Maintain a 75% to 25% ratio of floor vs. office time.

    Skills:

    • Prefer 1 to 3 years of previous experience as Safety Specialist or other Safety role.
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Must possess good organizational skills.
    • Must have good attendance, performance, and safety record.
    • Forklift Certified Preferred.
    • Forklift knowledge required.
    • Must be able to use computers, scanners, and related equipment.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
    • Must be able to multi-task and be professional.
    • Must be able to lead meetings and report to various audiences.
    • Proficiency in OSHA regulations and standards
    • Knowledge of risk management principles
    • Familiarity with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) practices
    • Experience in construction management software for safety planning
    • Understanding of Workers' Compensation laws and procedures
    • Background in compliance management for safety protocols
    • Strong grasp of NEC (National Electrical Code) guidelines
    • Ability to build effective relationships with employees at all levels
    • Previous experience in occupational health or construction management is a plus
