Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Essential Functions:
Ensure Reeb Safety and Health policies are kept current and maintained in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and communicated within the organization.
Serve as the subject matter expert for Reeb Safety & Health Policies acting as a resource to site policy champions
In coordination with the site management team, prepare and communicate safety and environmental reporting functions to key internal and external stakeholders:
Internal – Safety Reports, Injury/Incident Alerts, Reeb Safety Policy Updates, Internal Audit Reports, etc.
External – OSHA 300/300A Reporting Review Reeb location Safety Alerts for applicability and creates action plans to address hazards locally
Facilitate risk assessment and corrective action process to identify workplace hazards
Manage safety improvement projects with corporate and site-level resources
Coordinate the management and delivery of site-level safety training utilizing multiple formats: Web-based, Instructor-Led, Hands-On Respond to coworker safety concerns, encouraging coworker(s) to be a part of the solution and leveraging resources to ensure the concern is addressed efficiently and effectively Partner with Corporate Safety
Manager to carry out the internal safety auditing process locally and for other sites.
