Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. FDRsafety is seeking a Field Safety Specialist for a large manufacturing client in Detroit, MI. This is a full-time permanent opportunity that will offer a generous base salary, a lucrative benefits package, a potential bonus incentive, and substantial opportunities for growth. This individual will be responsible for assisting in planning, implementing, and supervising all field project-related safety programs and policies.
Summary Responsibilities:
Act as a coach and mentor to managers in Safety leadership and assist them in executing their Safety responsibilities.
Develop site-specific safety procedures to effectively implement the Health and Safety Management Systems program to drive injury and fatality prevention.
Conduct safety reviews by providing technical expertise in the client's Health and Safety program, protocols, and criteria.
Complete monthly safety meetings and certification training at sites within Michigan. May be required to travel to other states to provide these services.
Provide technical expertise and participate in injury/incident investigations to identify root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
Maintain technical expertise and counsel management on applicable Local, State, Federal, and Corporate Health and Safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related sciences is preferred, but consideration will be given to non-degreed candidates who possess equivalent work experience of 5-7 years
Minimum of 5 years experience in a health and safety role.
OSHA 30-hour certification preferred
Experience training individuals and groups on safety and health issues
Comfortable in a manufacturing environment working with all levels in an organization.
Strong verbal communication skills
Flexible schedule and willing to work flexible hours.
Must have intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to make decisions relevant to job duties regularly with guidance from established policy, regulatory framework, and from the Safety Manager
Operations management experience is considered an asset.
Related experience in the scrap or construction industry would be an asset.
Willing to travel up to 25%
