Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. Summary/Objective
Revise is looking for a thorough and detail-oriented safety/training specialist to monitor workplace activities of staff in the field to promote and ensure employee safety as well as compliance with applicable safety and training regulations. This individual needs to have common sense and a philosophy built around teaching and mentoring our workforce.
Essential Functions
· Develop an annual training plan that can be accomplished in 30 – 60 minute blocks throughout the year
· Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
· Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards
· Review safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates
· Conducts safety inspections and audits that do not interfere with the job but are productive teaching events
· Inspect safety equipment; recommend replacements
· Draft and implement internal safety standards and policies
· Review accidents and incidents reported by employees and customers
· Travel to different locations and jobsites as a mentor to make on the spot corrections
· Complete required forms for company, OSHA and Workers Comp Insurance
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
· Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
· Working knowledge of safety practices in a residential construction environment required
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to conduct training (Formal and Informal)
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Strong supervisory and leadership skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
· Valid driver’s license required
· This role is 50% on job sites and 50% in the office
Competencies
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred
· Health and safety certification or CSP Preferred
· 2 years of experience as a residential construction safety professional required
