Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Environmental and Safety Solutions Inc. is in search of a Construction Safety Manager with experience in the pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in front of business owners, project management, and craft while in the field. This project is projected to last for approx. 1 yr.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree level education in Engineering, Construction, EH&S, or related field with minimum 5 years’ direct experience in EHS management positions supporting large scale construction projects. Ideally working for client, GC, or EPCM company. And or related certifications: CSP, ASP, SMS, CHST. 
    • Person must be excellent in hazard recognition, details of LOTO, Confined Space, Anchoring,  
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Procore, Deltek, ConstructSecure, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam. 
    • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with people at all levels within the organization, client, and project partners. 
    • This position will work primarily on a construction site with some time in an office. 
    • This position may be required to work at the customer contracted site with varying changes in settings to include temperature, indoor and/or outdoor settings. 
    • Noise levels will be high at times depending upon work location. Should be prepared to work in all levels of noise and wear protective hearing equipment as needed. 
    • Must wear required PPE as required by the customer or its contractors. 
    • As a part of this environment, there may be the need to wear cleanroom coveralls and follow client hygiene protocols. 
    • Will embrace a safe work environment and support a workplace of respect, appreciation, and acceptance for everyone.
    • Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner. 
    • Ability to work outside regular business hours as required. 
    • Ability to provide valid work authorization for US employment required. 
    • Spanish speaking is a plus.

    Responsibilities:
    • Administer the Project’s Safety Program. Develop and initiate specific safety and health procedures in conjunction with project controls in order to translate policies and regulations into effective work practices.
    • Monitor compliance with mandatory safety and health laws, standards, and codes.
    • Review, support the development of, and approve project-specific safety plans as well as review and approve all Contractors’ Project Safety Professionals.
    • Manage project-specific safety orientation which all project personnel shall complete prior to being allowed to perform any work on this Project.
    • Perform and document daily field observations of construction-related activities, to identify and correct deficiencies and report daily.
    • Support the Construction Manager’s weekly Safety Committee Meeting.
    • Administer the program for contractors and subcontractors on site. Provide case management of all work-related injuries and illnesses in order to ensure that individuals receive appropriate care and support.
    • Investigate injuries, near misses, conditions and incidents to ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
    • Maintain adequate records of pertinent data and compile the required reports on individual job occupational injury or illness experience.
    • Experience with Pharmaceutical or Chemical facility construction is preferred and/or large equipment installation experience.
