Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) seeks an experienced and dedicated Safety Trainer to join our dynamic team. We are not looking for a good safety trainer, we are looking for a GREAT safety trainer. As a Safety Trainer and Consultant, you will be designing, conducting, and implementing comprehensive safety training programs. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a willingness to travel between 25-40% of the time.

    Applicant MUST have experience in conducting HAZWOPER/HAZMAT and/or Confined Space Entry training. Please highlight this experience in your cover letter. Applicants without this required experience will not be considered.

    A sample recording of a past training session is highly encouraged; interviewees will be expected to provide a short presentation highlighting their training abilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Instruct portions of our Certified Safety Manager (CSM) Course, HAZWOPER and other Train-the-Trainer Courses.
    • Perform mock OSHA inspections, environmental assessments, and developing written OHS plans and programs for clients.
    • Lead site-specific training for clients across the US, primarily on HAZWOPER, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tagout, and others.
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety training programs and initiatives to meet the needs of NASP members and industry professionals.
    • Conduct thorough assessments of training needs within different industries and organizations to tailor programs accordingly.
    • Create engaging and interactive training materials, including presentations, manuals, videos, and e-learning modules.
    • Deliver training sessions to diverse audiences, including employees, supervisors, and management personnel.
    • Provide guidance and support to members and clients regarding safety training requirements, resources, and solutions.
    • Conduct training for open-enrollment classes throughout the US for up to 1 week at a time.
    • Attend conferences and seminars for OHS professionals.
    • Maintain accurate training records and generate reports to track attendance, completion rates, and other key performance indicators.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety training, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role, with HAZWOPER/HAZMAT and/or Confined Space Entry experience required.
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information.
    • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices across various industries.
    • Proven experience in designing and delivering engaging training programs to diverse audiences.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Willingness to travel between 25-40% of the time, including overnight stays for up to six (6) days, as necessary.
    • Professional certifications such as Master Safety Professional (MSP), Certified Safety Director (CSD), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) or equivalent are strongly preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools is a bonus but not required.
    • Spanish/Bi-lingual preferred but not required.
