Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : General knowledge of project management, design, engineering, and maintenance fields.A thorough understanding of safety programs for construction projects.
Monitoring labor efficiencies / needs, code compliance, work quality, and proper safety practices.Preparing and maintaining safety and compliance documentation.
Assisting in setting safety objectives and developing training schedules.Verify that the job contains the correct safety products and quantities.
Visit customer sites to verify measurements and perform preliminary site safety inspections.Recommend changes to the design and incorporate any changes requested by the customer.
Review the safety standards with the construction team to ensure that all safety protocols are in adherence to requirements.
Respond to customer, sales team, and project manager questions concerning safety.REQUIRED SKILLS : Ability to use and instruct on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications with in-depth knowledge of the NEC codesDemonstrated track record of successful safety leadership with experience managing construction crews.
Understanding OSHA standards and safety requirementsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient in Office Software like word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
