Safety Specialist implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Being a Safety Specialist ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events. Additionally, Safety Specialist may have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Safety Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Summary

    Focused on the sales of construction safety supplies. Responsible for maintaining and profitably growing sales to achieve yearly sales goals for specific product line or industry in assigned region. Educate the sales force and customers on product line or industry and resolves issues. This position requires operation of a Company Vehicle or a Personal Vehicle and such operation is done consistently more than 20% of the average work week. If selected for this position, the company will run a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report. A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR report.

    Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

    • Makes sales calls with sales representatives, contacting customers and making sales presentations. Teams with National Sales Managers on presentations and proposals for large customers.
    • Trains sales associates on all aspects for assigned product category or industry; focusing on product knowledge and sales techniques.
    • Develops and implements plans to expand business presence. Shares market and competitor information with all applicable channels within the organization; establishes relationships and working partnerships.
    • Resolves issues for customers and sales representatives in assigned region.
    • Attends trade shows and promote assigned product line or industry. Attends the monthly business meetings for all company sponsored associations.

    Nature and Scope

    • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
    • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
    • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

    Work Environment

    • Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
    • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
    • Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time.

    Education and Experience

    • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience within the sales of construction safety supplies
