SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.   • The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Safety Manager to provide facilities management support to our CDC customer located in Morgantown, WV.

    DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee the safety program of the contract to include all required documentation. 
    • Ensure all contracting staff are working in a safe compliance while adhering to all local, state, federal, and agency specific requirements
    • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and policies.
    • Conduct safety training and inspections, investigate incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Stay informed about safety regulations, codes, and standards, and ensure compliance.
    • Coordinate with external agencies, such as regulatory bodies and emergency responders, to ensure effective emergency preparedness and response.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • A minimum of five (5) years of facilities  safety management related experience is required.
    • Ten (10) years of experience may be considered lieu of education

    REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must be able to pass a federal background check.
