SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. About the Position:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple projects from start to finish within Seattle Safety and is the main point of contact to the customer during the build cycle. This position will communicate between the customer and departments within Seattle Safety for projects starting from concept to full production build and testing. They will act as the main liaison between the company and customers up to and through installation. They will respond to customer requests in a timely manner which involves coordinating with applicable departments. The Project Manager is responsible for managing the scope, planning, tracking and coordination of projects and crash lab project implementation. Work is performed in an office environment in a low volume manufacturing setting. This position has extensive customer contact both domestically and internationally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Works closely with Seattle Safety departments and customer through all project deliverables outlined in the contract scope.
· Works within departments to set baseline schedules and helping to support workload management for engineering, production, shipping and installation.
· Monitors progress through each project phase as defined in the project schedule.
· Ensures all project issues and risks are tracked, managed, and resolved in a timely manner.
· Documents and reports changes to the project schedule or scope to stakeholders.
· Ensures all necessary documentation has been provided and all billing milestones are met.
· Works closely with the customer to ensure site readiness qualifications are met for installation.
· Coordinates with installation/service department to obtain lab acceptance.
· Provides documentation of improved project processes for department continuous improvement methodology.
· Seek out, identify, lead and execute on opportunities to improve the department’s efficiency and effectiveness and take responsibility for implementation of solutions.
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or construction field is preferred or equivalent combination of education / certification and experience
· 5 years of project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Solid technical aptitude, with the ability to communicate and understand technical concepts. Understanding of closed-loop control is a plus.
· Must have the ability to meet goals and prioritize as necessary to handle multiple projects simultaneously and under challenging conditions and deadlines.
· Cultural awareness to develop productive, cooperative relationships across international boundaries, as well as with people from technical and non-technical backgrounds is required
· Broad understanding of business functions to lead the project from award through design & manufacturing and finally installation & final customer acceptance.
· Commitment to continuous improvement best practices.
· Must have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills and ability to read, write and understand English.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, advanced Excel skills, Microsoft Project, order processing systems, Project Management Software, and Internet.
