SAFETY MANAGER plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the organization. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies. Being a SAFETY MANAGER designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Additionally, SAFETY MANAGER studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences. Requires a bachelor's degree of occupational safety and health or related degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The SAFETY MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     Position Summary: *
    The EHS Manager will be responsible for leading and engaging in all aspects of industrial safety, health, and environmental systems in an effort to meet regulatory and internal program requirements by maintaining records, managing EHS programs, conducting necessary investigations and inspections, and facilitating new hire orientations.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership for EHS program development to achieve cultural permanence, site-specific performance objectives, and program implementation goals.
    • Maintain understanding and knowledge of current applicable federal, state, local regulations and company policies.
    • Coordinate and conduct the injury review process to determine and correct root cause.
    • Lead and manage the implementation of injury reduction efforts. Promote “Zero Injury Culture” initiatives.
    • Track and report operational safety performance.
    • Support the environmental functions of the business as warranted/assigned.
    • Maintain reporting requirements for the environmental calendar.
    • Conduct safety training programs for all levels of the operation.
    • Provide leadership and facilitation and drive for a sustained plant safety committee.
    • Function as emergency coordinator. Develop and drive emergency response and business continuity initiatives.
    • Lead the operation to best practices and best-in-class EHS results (including program development).
    • Assist the organization by participating in special task force assignments and special projects.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory industrial hygiene requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications: *

    • BS in Industrial Safety or Hygiene; advanced degree and/or professional certification(s) preferred.
    • 6 years of experience in the safety, environment, and health field in a manufacturing setting, with at least three years in a leadership role.
    • General industrial safety, risk management, and environmental experience desired.
    • Good oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
    • Certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
    • Flexibility to support off shifts as necessary.

    • Must have analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
