Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. TD&I is seeking a Safety Director to oversee operations in the tri-state area such as Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
The position is responsible and accountable for the safe and reliable delivery of underground infrastructure services for the telecommunications, power and utility industries, in compliance with regulatory requirements. It will plan, organize, direct and review operations within a tri-state area. This position will lead, direct, and provide expertise and guidance to the operational crews managed and required to respond to and react to a variety of emergency/urgent situations. It requires significant field and administrative responsibilities.
The successful candidate will have experience leading initiatives, setting and achieving goals, and developing policies and programs that reflect industry best practices. Candidates should be highly motivated, detail oriented, and organized. This position will report to our CEO, Senior Vice President, Vice President and work out of our Hudson, WI office with travel to our 5 office locations and field presence throughout our Midwest territory is required.
