Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.   • Responsibilities will include oversight of all job and work related safety and training. The Director of Safety and Compliance will ensure that safety and compliance protocols are being implemented, followed, reported, and enforced throughout the organization.



    Essential Job Functions:

    • Perform/oversee new hire orientation program, hazard awareness and all other safety related training as required.
    • Issuing, tracking and ensuring proper use of all Personal Protective Equipment.
    • Develop and maintain safety culture throughout the organization.
    • Create, update, maintain and enforce corporate safety manual.
    • Develop, oversee and enforce safety inspection program for field.
    • Assist field foreman and superintendents with safety audits and site inspections, compliance and QA/QC audits.
    • Work with Operations to ensure the proper training for all employees is provided and maintained in accordance with government regulations, industry standards and company policies.
    • Ensure that our work and our safety program is consistent and compliant with all Federal, State and local regulations as well as customer requirements.
    • Responsible to protect and promote the interest of the company in all matters.
    • Work harmoniously, cooperatively and courteously with others at all times.


    Education and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Construction/Safety Management preferred.
    • 7 years of construction safety experience.
    • OSHA 30 and train the trainer qualified.


    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

    • Knowledge of construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
    • Organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to use PC desktop applications i.e., Microsoft/Excel and tablets.
