Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Description:
Run project start-up meetings
Manage site specific safety plans, JHA Manuals, SDS Manuals and submit them to the general contractor
Prepare safety posters, graphics and safety job start packets
Review job Boards: Schedule, Time, Accountability
Conduct Safety audits of job site
Maintain safety training records
Facilitate New Hire Safety Orientation
QA/QC deck walks
Facilitate trainings for Forklift/MEWP and Confined Space
Update outdated safety documents
OSHA 300 Logs
Training for the following: Fall Protection, Fall protection plans, Rigging/signaling, OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR
Management of Work comp claims
Purchasing and tracking of all safety equipment and supplies
