Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Frankfort Plant Board has an opening for a full-time Safety Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continuous development of Safety Policies and Programs as well as effective implementation of these programs and will provide professional knowledge and expertise to support regulatory agency compliance and organizational policies.
Qualified applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Emergency Management or related field, plus five years related work experience. Additional directly related work experience may be substituted for educational requirements on a year for year basis. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license.
The starting salary is $3,045.44 Bi-Weekly ($79,181.44 annually) plus an excellent benefits package including Health, Dental, and Vision insurance and membership in the KY Retirement System. All applicants must be able to successfully complete drug screening and background investigation.
