Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     A brand new Safety Director position has been created to service both Advanced Precast Company, Inc. as well as its sister company, Decker Concrete, Inc. As the Safety Director, this role will be passionate about establishing an effective safety culture. The Safety Specialist is a great relationship builder who is committed to understanding the ins and outs of our precast concrete processes so they can serve the field from a safety perspective with practical, real-world solutions. They help our team integrate safety into everything they do. This role will be the subject matter expert on safety, training, and OSHA and will have an energetic, solutions-focused mindset that understands the importance of partnering with operational teams to ensure all perspectives and ideas are being considered when concerns or issues arise.     What will you accomplish and enjoy as a Safety Director ?
    • Assists line and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.
    • Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
    • Assists in communicating and training on hazard control information and evaluates effectiveness of the control.
    • Guides and assists personnel at all locations with critical safety and health problems.
    • Assesses new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company’s operations.
    • Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.
    • Acts as ranking company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.
    • Establishes target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.
    • Overviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas.
    • Investigates serious injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel. Notifies top management on pertinent details.
    • Occasional travel to external jobsite locations to manage and evaluate conditions to ensure best safety practices are being performed.
    • Organize and conduct continual safety training programs.

    • Associate degree in safety-related field or minimum of five (5) years’ professional safety experience in manufacturing/construction industry.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) status preferred.
    • OSHA30 Certification preferred.
    • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
    • Bilingual – Spanish (preferred, but not required)
