    JOB SUMMARY

    The primary responsibilities of the Associate - Accounting (Associate) are to assist with the processing activities and transactions related to accounts payable and daily and monthly balancing and reconciliation. The Associate also processes qualified settlement fund disbursement requests and client vendor payments.



    Requirements

    DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Executes accounts payable invoices, including analysis, validation, review, coding, and journal entries.
    • Processes disbursement requests for qualified settlement funds and client vendor payments via ACH and wire.
    • Assists Controller and Sr. Accounting Associate with general ledger accounting functions, including journal entry preparation and reconciliations and monthly closing process.
    • Assists with year-end audit and tax return preparation, including compilation of accounting documents such as AP invoices, client statements, and journal entry backup. 
    • Assists with preparation and issuance of 1099 documents for vendors and payments made on behalf of clients.
    • Provides administrative support to the Accounting and Operations teams.
    • Serves as primary contact for incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Ensures compliance with ADM policies and procedures. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
    • Demonstrates professional conduct at all times and interacts in a positive manner with co-workers, clients, and business partners.
    • Participates in ongoing professional development and training programs to further develop knowledge and skills.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 
    • College degree in business, finance or related field preferred.
    • Three to five years’ experience in an accounting/bookkeeping environment, preferably in financial services/deposit operations setting.

    Communication:

    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.

    Reading/Comprehension Skills:

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as policies, procedures, written correspondence, etc.

    Mathematical Skills:

    • Ability to perform simple to moderately complex accounting/bookkeeping transactions.

    Computer Skills:

    • Proficiency, preferably at an intermediate/advanced level, in MS Excel. Ability to use other various computer applications such as: MS Office (e.g. Word, Outlook, etc.) and an enterprise reporting system ERP) such as Sage.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (3/4 time) required to talk, hear, sit, and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally (1/4) time required to stand, move from one location to another, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach above the shoulders. Access to office is via a staircase.


    The employee must frequently (¾ time) use hands and fingers to keyboard, phone or other office equipment; occasionally (1/3 time) lift and/or move up to 25 pounds to move items such as storage boxes and supplies. The employee must display sufficient close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus to perform job duties.
